Authors who indicate at the time of submission that they plan to submit to Annals of Vascular Surgery and fail to do so will be prevented from presenting at future VESS meetings for a period of two years. Case reports and rapid fire presentations are exempt from this requirement, but are encouraged to submit manuscripts for consideration. Presentation at the VESS Annual Meeting does not guarantee acceptance by the journal.
One of the founding principles of the VESS is the acknowledgment of interaction between industry and surgeons to facilitate rapid development of technology for vascular surgery and the treatment of vascular disease. VESS does not object to that relationship, but requires that all those submitting abstracts and presenting papers disclose financial or consulting relationships. The need for disclosure extends to unrestricted laboratory grants. In addition, off-label use of an FDA-approved product or any use of a non-FDA approved device must be disclosed. When you submit an abstract, you will be required to provide disclosure information for all authors.
Military Vascular Surgeons
We are looking to inform and educate our members and meeting attendees on the specialty of vascular surgery as it pertains to patients in the military/combat situation. Please let us know if the research in your abstract is a result of your military training and/or experience.
The Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society (VESS) – formerly the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, founded 1976 – is a national society with over 1,000 members and a 40-year history dedicated to issues most germane to the young vascular surgeon. The mission of the VESS is to improve the science and art of vascular surgery and endovascular therapies and to provide interchange of medical knowledge and information. Active membership is limited to the first 15 years after fellowship training. Members strive to promote basic and clinical research that directly improves outcomes for our patients. The structure of the Society and the meetings are conducive to developing long-term relationships. Relationships are built and grown with colleagues, friends, mentors, trainees and our industry partners.
The Annual Meeting is the leading forum for face-to-face interaction with young vascular surgeons who represent the future of our specialty. Senior leaders in vascular surgery have the opportunity to mentor junior partners and trainees. Many VESS members are already key opinion leaders. The atmosphere at the Annual Meeting recognizes the extraordinary contribution industry provides to the ever changing field of vascular surgery with new devices, technologies and therapies.
